Black Women Are So Deserving.
I’m running the New York City Marathon on November 6th and I’m running it for Black Women Business Owners because they deserve to have marathons run for them and funds raised for them and their dreams, so they no longer have to sacrifice their wants and desires to help everyone else but themselves.
Black Women deserve to be invested in and they deserve this level of commitment. They deserve the focused attention, dedication and consistent action that it takes to train for a marathon.
Black Women Are Limitless
Nine years ago I was told I’d never be able to run long distances again. I had shattered my knee while sumo wrestling (a story for another time!) and had to have surgery. My doctors told me I'd probably limp forever and I wouldn’t be able to run for extended periods.
If you tell me something isn’t possible, I’m going to work twice as hard just to see how impossible it is!
Debunking the myths of limitations is my way of empowering not only myself, but also my community. So of course I started running again! Then I started running half marathons, traveling out of state to run them, and I decided that I was going to run one in all 50 states. I’ve done 15 so far!
The New York City Marathon has always been a major goal and the fact that I’m running it when I was counted out is something that I need to point out. We’re often told what our limitations are, but I’m living proof that the only limits we have are the ones we put on ourselves. We are limitless.
The Work Is Working
Black Women deserve advocacy that extends beyond words. We support over 600 Black Women-Owned Businesses across the nation and the globe, and every day we see the strides they’re able to take because of the tangible support they receive.
